Dr. Linda Thurby-Hay is a board-certified Clinical Nurse Specialist specializing in diabetes care. In her decades of working alongside primary care providers and endocrinologists in both inpatient and ambulatory settings, she recognized that people living with diabetes (PLWD) often did not have foundational self-management skills. So, during her doctoral education, she developed an educational program that was subsequently embedded in primary care practices in a Richmond hospital system.
Her approach is one of individualized care and coaching so PLWD can incorporate non-pharmacologic self-management practices into their daily lives in concert with adjustment of diabetes medications to minimize wide glucose fluctuations. You can expect her to share current scientific evidence, discuss potential strategies, and partner with you in determining next steps to stabilize blood glucoses and improve control.
Linda is a wife, mother and grandmother who enjoys nature walks, bicycling, reading and traveling. What will this year’s adventure be!
