Step-by-Step Walking Club

Are you interested in joining an exercise program but are timid about getting started? Our Step-by-Step Walking Club was created with you in mind!

Our walking group is specifically tailored for beginning walkers. To ensure accessibility, we will be conducting these sessions at three convenient locations on the peninsula beginning the week of January 29 through April. We aim to support the gradual progression of participants towards walking a full mile under the guidance of an experienced LWell dietitian — and it’s FREE!

Groups will meet as follows:

  • Williamsburg: Meet in the Truist Building lobby (4801 Courthouse St.) for a nature trail walk behind Newtown – Mondays @ Noon
  • Meet Denise Black, BS, MHRIM, your Step by Step Walking Club leader.

You will be asked to sign a release form. If you are uncertain about your ability to walk one mile, consult your primary care provider for guidance.

Rise and Shine Walkers

Do you want to start a new exercise routine but feel you need the added benefit of accountability that comes with joining a group? This walking group is for you! Join Carrie Palamarchuck, RDN each Monday morning for warm up, walking, cool down, with loads of health tips. Regular walking is proven to benefit weight management, cardiovascular health, insulin resistance, joint health, stress levels, mood, and so much more! Our group will meet at City Park Portsmouth each Monday at 7 – 8 am February 5 through March 25. This is a FREE group with free parking and public restrooms. This  group is mapped out for walkers confident in completing more than a 1 mile walk.

Heart Healthy Cooking Classes
In honor of February Heart Health Month, take this virtual four week cooking class with RDNs Carrie Palamarchuck and Renee Merchant.

  • Each week we will review heart healthy cooking techniques highlighting a variety of lean sources of protein.  ( approximately 30 minutes)
  • Demonstrations will focus on food items that participants may want to include at home but lack experience/ knowledge to incorporate it.
  • Learn to cook with plant-based protein like tofu and prepare fish in a variety of ways
  • Appropriate for all levels of cooking, utilizing common household ingredients and kitchen equipment in today’s kitchen
  • $50.00 for the entire 4-week series / Tuesdays in February (6, 13, 20, 27) 7:00 pm
  • FREE ADDED BONUS- Participants will have access to all recipes and other valuable tips shared within the presentations for future reference

Women's Spring Into Health Program
Join RDNs Renee Merchant and Carrie Palamarchuck in this 16-week programis  dedicated to enhancing the lives of women…navigating being healthy as we age. The program kicks off March 19 and meets every Tuesday at 7 pm.

What we Provide

  • Weekly 1 Hour Virtual Group Sessions – During the 16 weeks we will discuss nutrition and wellness guidelines created specifically for women. The Program will be a small group which allows for an individualized approach.
  • Creating Healthy Habits and developing lifelong healthy behaviors. Positive Goal Setting, Meal Planning and Grocery Shopping Guidelines. Opportunity to bond with other women.
  • Monthly 1:1 hour long session with your Registered Dietitian. Opportunity to connect with the dietitian and discuss personal needs and goal
  • Unlimited email access to your dietitian

Personal Training

Add a personal training element to your weight loss journey to bolster your long term success in weight management. Includes:

  • Discovery Phase: Submit a detailed training questionnaire to your coach.
  • Schedule a 30-minute consultation to review your exercise background and goals over video chat or phone call.
  • Online Training Log: Upload your workouts and communicate with your trainer.
  • Unlimited communication with your trainer through the LWell App. Your coach will be with you every step of the way as you train toward your goals.
