“My goal is never perfect eating, rather healthy habits”

There is a philosophy that says “everyone can do something; no one can do everything, but we should still do what we can”.

In my professional career, I believe part of what I can do is to share my knowledge and provide encouragement to others who are trying to lead a healthy life. I understand that sometimes people need more information in order to make informed decisions, after all, none of us can know everything. As someone who believes in the importance of health literacy, I work very hard to ensure my patients understand the material that is important to them. Other times, we understand what to do but have some obstacles to overcome to make healthy choices consistently. I am excited to be part of a team that can help navigate such barriers.

Having grown up on a 100 acre farm, I appreciate where real, wholesome food comes from and ho w it relates to a healthy body. We tend to feel well when we eat well ! I also understand the every day challenges of trying to juggle eating well amongst all our other responsibilities. And so my goal is never perfect eating, rather healthy habits. I firmly believe in the 80/20 rule of trying to eat well 80% of the time and knowing that this is still a great accomplishment. I find deep satisfaction in helping patients achieve their healthy goals and lead fuller lives.  I especially enjoy working with families on developing healthy habits for all ages. Working in a children’s hospital for years, and now having my own family, I have experience with and appreciation forthe unique facets of family nutrition.

I completed my Applied Human Nutrition Degree and dietetic internship program through Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Canada. I completed the American Dietetic Credentialing exam and have since been a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. My professional background includes work in diabetes management, weight management, renal failure and dialysis, pediatrics, and cardiovascular health.
